GEAR UP Mississippi actively encourages students to set high academic expectations, stay in school, study hard, and take courses that will prepare them to enter and succeed in college. GEAR UP Mississippi provides educational support services to our partner schools throughout Mississippi.

GEAR UP Mississippi operates as part of the Institutions of Higher Learning, Office of Academic and Student Affairs in collaboration with the Mississippi Department of Education, State Board for Community and Junior Colleges and community and national partners. Funding is provided by the United States Department of Education.

GEAR UP Mississippi Summer Academies 2012

GEAR UP Mississippi will sponsor six academies during the summer of 2012! The academies will focus on creating an awareness of pre-orientation experiences which address institutions’ academics and support systems, campus logistics, career awareness, and enrichment/recreational activities for participants. The summer academies include a minimum of 5 days and 4 nights between May 28, 2012 and June 15, 2012. Participants will be exposed to day-long activities as well as supervised nightly social activities. All academies are residential and free for selected rising 11th grade GEAR UP Mississippi students.

2011-2012 GEAR UP MS MILESTONE CONTEST

GEAR UP Mississippi will offer the ACT PLAN test at participating GEAR UP schools between February 27 - March 9, 2012. The PLAN program help 10th graders build a solid foundation for future academic and career success. It is a comprehensive guidance resurce that helps students measure their current academic development, explore career/training options, and make plans for the remaining years of high school and post graduation years.
